This could have the darkest leaf of the phormiums -- it is among the darkest we have seen. But a lot depends on where you place it. In full sun its color will be darker than if planted in any shade, where it will be lighter. Its mature height is two to three feet. It will grow quicker and look better with regular, deep watering. Older plants can take more drought. Cold hardy to 15 to 20°F. It is reported to not to grow as well in Southern California as it does in cooler climates.
